Computer Troubleshooting
Computer troubleshooting can be tiresome, tedious and there's just too many solutions for each problem that it can be hard to pinpoint every exact error. I can even create a complete site devoted to troubleshooting, that's just how big and extensive this theme is, so I've compiled a few things and tips I have learned through my years of experience fixing computers.
The best way to troubleshoot a computer, is having extra parts of every component (or at least an extra power supply, RAM and video card) so you can eliminate the good components to pinpoint the culprit.
First we need to know what's wrong with your computer, there are two kinds of troubleshooting:
- Hardware troubleshooting
- Software troubleshooting
Hardware troubleshooting
This is the hardest one of them all, it sometimes involves paying for computer parts and you need to check several things to know for sure which computer part is giving you the problem.
Is your computer beeping?
Someitmes your computer starts to beeps and doesn't boot, well your computer is telling you something with these beep codes, you just need to hear how many beeps is your computer making and if these beeps are long beeps or short ones.
Power Supply Troubleshooting
A power supply can break down over time especially with age, if a power supply gets damaged, replace it, never try to fix it yourself, it's not worth your time, to know if your power supply is having problems read the power supply troubleshooting guide.
Motherboard
This along with the CPU are the hardest pieces of hardware to detect failure because their symptoms are too similar to many other, to give it proper motherboard troubleshooting you need to eliminate some culprits first.
Hard Disk
To know if your hard disk is having problems is not as hard as the other pieces of computer hardware. The hard disk takes care of all of your computer data, without it your computer doesn't know what to load, so any loading error, especially with your operating system can be a hard disk error, some test can also be done to do proper hard disk troubleshooting.
